MIDWEEK VIBES

Weekly Newsletter @ The Intersection Between Music, Entertainment & Tech

 đźŽ¶â€śMIDWEEK VIBES” 🎶

Back again like we never left with another installment of your Mid Week Vibes. Some really fresh and interesting things this week. Take a look Below!

Have you heard of Ghostwriter? This anonymous artist is shaking up the industry, big time. They used A.I. to mimic the voices of Drake and the Weeknd, and while their song "Heart on My Sleeve" got yanked from streaming services, but its still viral. Crazy part: Ghostwriter isn't just disrupting; they're dialoguing. They've been in talks with big names in the industry about the role of A.I. in music's future. Is this tech a threat or a tool? All I know is, it’s a conversation we can't ignore.

Google is diving deep into the fight against digital disinformation. Developed by DeepMind, their new project SynthID is aiming to watermark AI-generated images. Yep, you read that right. In this age where AI can whip up an image that looks as real as the one on your ID, Google is working on something that could be a game-changer.

SynthID embeds changes so subtle that the human eye can't spot them but a computer can. You've probably seen watermarks on images showing ownership, but this is next-level stuff. Even after editing or cropping the image, DeepMind's tech can still tell if it's machine-made.

What I find fascinating is the impact this could have on copyright and creative ownership. It’s still in experimental stages, but it’s a critical step towards some form of standardization in the wild west of AI-generated content.

Got AI art? Don't bother copyrighting it. A U.S. judge just said if it's machine-made, it can't be copyrighted. Human touch wins in the eyes of the law. Hollywood, you're safe—if a human rewrites that AI screenplay, you're golden.
